The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking defeat on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Pacers of Marywood University by a score of 4-3 in double overtime. The match took place in Scranton, PA. With the defeat, the Knights have now dropped three consecutive matches, dipping to 4-3-1 on the year. The Pacers improved to 3-6 on the year.

The Knights trailed 2-1 at halftime, and 3-1 with 41 minutes remaining in regulation. Berkeley would slice Marywood's lead in half at 58:15. The Knights earned a corner kick opportunity, and it was Anderson Amador sending the ball to the middle of the box, where Carlos Goncalves headed it in from three yards out. That inched Berkeley closer, as the Knights trailed then by a count of 3-2.

Later, with just 8:38 remaining in the game, Berkeley's Jordan Bailey headed home the tying goal (assisted by Christopher Azevedo).

After both squads played a scoreless first overtime session in which neither team was able to register a shot, the Pacers Zac Lloyd scored the golden goal in the 105th minute to give Marywood the victory. His first shot opportunity was stopped by Robert Parker, but Lloyd collected the rebound in front on him and blasted the game-winner in from about 20 yards out.

Marywood outshot Berkeley 26-14, and doubled the Knights in shots-on-goal, 14-7. The Pacers held a slim 7-6 edge in the corner kick category. Maywood University was whistled for 20 fouls on the afternoon, compared to 19 for Berkeley.

Despite the loss for the Knights, Parker registered 10 saves on the day.

The Knights will now have six days off before returning to the pitch, as Berkeley will next play on October 2 in Morristown, NJ. The Knights will take on the College of St. Elizabeth. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 3:00pm.
