New Jersey men's soccer team continues winning ways with 2-1 victory over Albany College of Pharmacy

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team won its third consecutive match on Thursday evening, defeating the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy by a score of 2-1. The match took place in Albany, NY. With the victory, the Knights clinched a winning season for the third time in four years, improving to a mark of 9-4-1 on the year. The Panthers dipped to 5-7 on the 2019 campaign.

For the Knights, it was the eighth time this season that they held an opponent to one goal or less. Berkeley College is 8-0 in those games. The Knights also haven't been shutout this season.

Berkeley got on the board at 13:39 when Carlos Goncalves received a beautiful lead pass from Sebastian Cannizzo before burying the ball into the net to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage. Albany College of Pharmacy tied the match later in the half when Austin Myers notched a goal at 26:27 to make it 1-1 (from Noah Keith and Charles Middleton). Berkeley then took the lead for good when Marcos Hidalgo scored (at 35:25 from Dylan Jurado) to give his team a 2-1 lead.

Despite trailing 2-1 at the half, Albany College of Pharmacy remained aggressive, out-shooting Berkeley College by a count of 11-5 in the second session. The Panthers, however, were unable to net the equalizer, as the Knights advanced for another impressive road victory.

Robert Parker played well in goal for Berkeley College, as he allowed just one goal while stopping five shots in picking up the victory.

The Knights will look to make it four consecutive victories on Saturday evening, as Berkeley will travel to Takoma Park, Maryland to face Washington Adventist. Start-time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
