The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team is one victory away from its first appearance in the USCAA Division II National Championship title game, as earlier this evening, the No. 3 seeded Knights outlasted the No. 2 seeded Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte by a score of 3-2 in overtime. The match took place at the Princess Anne Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, VA. With the victory, the Knights improved to 11-6-1 on the 2019 campaign, while the Wildcats, last season's National runner-up, fell to 12-5-1.

The goal for the New Jersey men's soccer team tomorrow afternoon against Penn State Beaver is simple: Win to set up a dream contest with Berkeley College-New York with the National championship on the line. However, should the Knights lose, that would then send the "B" pool into disarray, with Berkeley-NJ, Johnson & Wales-Charlotte, and Penn State Beaver all having recorded a victory. Multiple tie-breaking scenarios would then have to be applied before determining which institution would play Berkeley College-NY in the title match.

It was a historic evening for Berkeley College-New Jersey. The Knights, making just their second appearance in the USCAA Division II National Tournament, won their first tournament match ever tonight. Early goals by Robins Etienne (from Carlos Goncalves at 6:17) and Esteban Pedrueza (unassisted at 12:45) put Berkeley College in early control of the match, but the National runners-up wouldn't go quietly.

Wildcats standout Webb Isaac scored at 22:29 to slice the Knights lead in half at 2-1. Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte would tie the match a little less than 15 minutes later when Shawn Geiger found the back of the net (at 37:23) to tie the match at two apiece.

That would be the final goal scored of regulation, as the match advanced into an overtime period. Once the match hit the extra session, the Knights would not be denied as Jordan Bailey scored just 86 seconds in, sending the Berkeley College bench into euphoria.

Berkeley's standout netminder Robert Parker was phenomenal in this one for the Knights, as he recorded nine saves, including five in the second half, to earn the victory.
