Seven different players score in Berkeley College's blowout victory over Central Penn

The Berkeley College men's soccer team snapped its two match losing skid on Tuesday in dominating fashion, overwhelming Central Penn by a score of 7-3. The non-conference clash took place at Frank D. Zaccaria Memorial Park in Woodland Park, NJ. With the victory, Berkeley improved to a mark of 12-3 on the 2023 campaign, while Central Penn dipped to 9-2-1.

Jacoby Calvo got the scoring started for Berkeley in the 7th minute, as he capitalized on a beautiful lead pass from Lucas Zuleta to give his team a 1-0 edge. Two minutes later, Central Penn's Adam Youssef tied the match, cashing in on a penalty kick opportunity to square the match at a goal apiece.

Later, in the course of a four minute span, Berkeley notched three goals to snatch a commanding 4-1 advantage. The first of those tallies came courtesy of standout scorer Suad Lukovic in the 11th minute (from Ian Pallardel). Maximus Betancourt (12th minute, from Lukovic) and Agustin Nunez (14th minute, from Joseph Buel) accounted for the other two tallies during that aforementioned scoring barrage. Berkeley would hold that 4-1 edge until time expired in the opening half.

11 minutes into the second half, Pallardel scored (from Lukovic) to make it 5-1 Berkeley. Fabrizio Godos joined the party 10 minutes later, slashing home David Gil-Aguirre's terrific pass to give Berkeley a 6-1 advantage. Two minutes later, Central Penn got one back when Jacob Philippe found the back of the net (68th minute) to slice Berkeley's wide margin to just four goals at 6-2.

Inside the final five minutes of action, each team scored a goal apiece, with Marco DaSilva netting one in the 85th (from Samuel Gomez) and Central Penn's Greg Conkle finding the net in the 88th (from Youssef).

Berkeley held a commanding 35-8 lead in the shots category, while also earning seven corner kicks compared to three for the opposition.

Friday, October 20 will be Berkeley's next contest, as the Knights will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to battle Centenary University. Start-time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
