Jason DeJesus' pair of goals lifts Berkeley to 4-1 victory over Fisher College

The Berkeley College men's soccer team stayed unblemished in the month of September, defeating the Falcons of Fisher College by a score of 4-1. The match took place at Harry Della Russo Stadium in Revere, MA. With the victory, the Knights are now 7-1-1 on the 2024 campaign, while Fisher dipped to a mark of 2-4-1.

The Falcons struck first in this one. Lorenzo Mossini redirected a Drake Hampton pass into the goal at the 12:36 mark to give Fisher a 1-0 edge. Almost 11 minutes later, Berkeley would net the equalizer, courtesy of Gabriel Barreto (from Fernando Morales), making it a 1-1 contest. Striker Jason DeJesus found the net at 37:20 (from veteran Suad Lukovic) to push the Knights ahead by a count of 2-1. That would be the final goal scored by either squad in the opening 45 minutes of action.

Steven Urbes (from Ian Pallardel and Barreto) registered a goal at 54:49 to increase Berkeley's edge to two goals, 3-1. The Knights' stellar defense held it down after that, shutting down the Falcons' offensive attack. DeJesus would then put an exclamation point on the Knights' victory, adding a late unassisted goal at 88:30 to make it 4-1 Berkeley. The Knights would advance to win by that aforementioned score.

For the match, Berkeley held a slim 14-12 edge in shots, while also earning six corner kick opportunities compared to five for the hosts. Knights netminder Victor Batista allowed just the one goal while making four saves. Fisher starting netminder Eduardo Navarro took the loss in goal, logging 45 minutes and allowing two goals while making three saves. Andrea Ferri played the second half, stopping four shots and allowing two goals.

The Knights will return to the pitch on Wednesday, as Berkeley stays on the road to battle Bucks County Community College. Start-time for the contest is scheduled for 3:30pm.
