Knights produce 5-4 record over last nine games, await word on possible USCAA Tournament bid

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team earned mixed results over its final nine matches, producing a 5-4 record against some stiff USCAA competition. Included in that aforementioned output was the Knights' 2-1 defeat to Bryant & Stratton-Rochester in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 NACIA Men's Soccer Tournament.

September 28: Berkeley 3, Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo 0

The Knights defeated Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo by a score of 3-0 in NACIA action. Berkeley got two late first half goals by Gabriel Borges (40:00, from Ian Pallardel) and Steven Urbes (44:00, from Elvin Rios) to take a 2-0 advantage, and Samuel Gomez added an insurance tally at the 75 minute mark (from Borges), as the Knights earned a 3-0 victory. Goalkeeper Jack Giannini made six stops in 80 minutes of action in net, with Dominik Usau playing the final 10 minutes and not facing a shot.

October 1: Centenary University 2, Berkeley 1

After a defensive struggle for most of the match, the breakthrough came in the 73rd minute when Christian Trujillo found the back of the net to put the Cyclones ahead 1-0. Centenary's advantage lasted all of 36 seconds, however, as Gabriel Borges answer with an equalizer (from Steven Urbes) stunning the Centenary defense and quickly shifting momentum of the non-conference clash

Later, with under four minutes remaining, Ander Dugarte scored the match-winning goal (86:03, from Sean Quinones), giving Centenary the lead for good, 2-1.

The Cyclones won the match despite Berkeley College owning a 21-8 advantage in shots.

Berkeley's Victor Batista took the loss, allowing two goals while making one save. On the flip side, Centenary starter Kevin Velasquez Majia logged 51:13 of action, making three saves and not allowing a goal. Reserve Christian Ruiz played the final 38:47 in net, earning the victory, as he made three saves and allowed one goal.

October 5: Berkeley 4, Five Towns 3

After a relatively low-scoring first half that saw each team produce just a goal apiece (Berkeley's came via Hector Castro, from Borges, at 15:18, while Five Towns' tally came courtesy of Andre Hickling, from Anthony Campos, at 44:55), things opened up in the second half of action.

The Knights took a 2-1 advantage on Arian Cekic's goal (from Filip Wegrecki) at 49:40, but Five Towns responded shortly later (at 52:25) when Gabriel Santos tapped home Jean Kazadi's pass to knot the match at two apiece. After the teams alternated goals over the next 11:15 (Berkeley's tally courtesy of Imanol Florez, from Ian Pallardel, at 57:00, and the Sound's goal courtesy of Hickling, from Campos, at 63:40), Pallardel would score the match-winning tally at 76:14, blasting home Emmanuel Guevara Mercado's feed to five Berkeley the NACIA victory.

Batista earned the victory in net for Berkeley, making seven saves while allowing the three tallies. His counterpart, Jose Garcia, took the loss, allowing four goals while making two saves.

October 11: Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse 4, Berkeley 0

The Knights suffered a 4-0 shutout loss to Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse in a match that saw Berkeley produce just seven shots on the afternoon.

The Bobcats received a pair of goals from Alvaro Carrera-Aguirre, and one apiece from Tyriq Armstrong and Jonathan Mihaylov. Picking up assists on the day for the hosts were Alvaro Carrera-Aguirre, Geoffrey Owusu, and Tyrese Osayande.

Batista took the loss in net for the Knights, allowing four goals while making a pair of stops.

October 12: Berkeley 3, Bryant & Stratton (Albany) 0

In the first of a two-match set against Bryant & Stratton (Albany), the Knights picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over the Bobcats

October 17: Berkeley 3, Bryant & Stratton (Albany) 0

Three different players scored for the Knights in their impressive victory over Bryant & Stratton (Albany), including Emmanuel Guevara Mercado (55:00, from Urbes), Filip Wegrecki (65:00, from Elvin Rios), and Steven Urbes (75:00, from Borges).

Jack Giannini got the start in goal for Berkeley, as he logged 45 minutes and made two saves. Usau played the final 45:00 in net, making one save.

October 18: Berkeley 2, Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) 1

In their final home match of the 2025 campaign, Berkeley edged Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) by a score of 2-1. After 81 minutes of scoreless soccer, the teams combined for three goals in the final minutes of play in a mad scene.

The visitors took a 1-0 advantage when Jahiem Gray scored an unassisted goal at 82:00. Samuel Gomez (87:00, from Urbes) and Jose Vasquez De La Cruz (89:50, from Gomez) answered with consecutive tallies to give Berkeley College a thrilling 2-1 comeback win.

Three Berkeley goalkeeper combined to allow just the one goal. Usau played 45 minutes, making two saves. Harvey Acevedo played 22:30 and made five saves, and Dylan Dascoli logged 22:30 of action and earned the victory, making three saves and allowing one goal.

October 24: Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) 1, Berkeley 0

Both teams combined for 17 shots on the day, with the hosts earning 10, and Berkeley finishing with 7, but the Bobcats' Callum Judge would be the only one to find the back of the net, as his lone goal at 25:00 would turn out to be the match-deciding tally.

Louka Carion-Janes made 10 saves to earn the shutout for his team, while Batista stopped two of the three shots he faced in taking the defeat.

October 29: Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) 2, Berkeley 1

In the NACIA semifinals, Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) edged Berkeley by a score of 2-1. The Knights earned the first goal of the match in the early stages, when Florez scored an unassisted goal to give his team a 1-0 edge. The hosts responded with a goal from Joshua Murphy at 26:00 (from Cameron Moag) to make it 1-1. The winning tally came later when Michael Ingallinera scored (from Yassine Kone) at 77:00 to put the Bobcats ahead for good.

Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) goalkeeper Louka Carion-Janes stopped three shots on the day while allowing just the one goal. Batista took the loss in net for Berkeley, allowing two goals while making two saves.
