Stavros Zomopoulos serves as the Head Coach of Berkeley College's men's soccer team. He joined Berkeley after spending three years as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at John Jay College, during which time he led John Jay to the CUNYAC Conference Final in 2006.

Under Zomopoulos' guidance, the Berkeley College New York men's soccer team has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success. Since 2009, he has led the Knights to seven appearances in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament final - and four conference titles (in 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2019). The Knights captured HVIAC Regular Season championships in 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2019, and shared the crown in 2012.

Additionally, Zomopoulos has helped the Knights earn National recognition, leading Berkeley to four appearances in the USCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament (2013, 2015, 2018, and 2019). In 2013, the Knights were selected to compete for a National crown, and made the most of that opportunity by recording a quarterfinal round victory over the defending National champion at the time - Briarcliffe. In 2015, Berkeley earned its way into the National Tournament via an automatic bid for winning the HVIAC tournament. The Knights defeated Concordia College-Alabama in the quarterfinals before pushing No. 1 seeded Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse to its limit in the semifinals. In 2019, Berkeley recorded shutout victories over SMCC (1-0, 2OT), Penn State Brandywine (2-0), and Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte (3-0) to win the National championship, the program's first.

Berkeley College's No. 1 USCAA ranking in 2019 was its highest ever. Prior to 2018 when the USCAA broke up its tournament into two divisions and started pool play, the Knights were the only non-scholarship institution to have reached the semifinals of the National tournament twice. Both times, Berkeley defeated scholarship schools to do so. On Zomopoulos' watch, 12 different student-athletes have earned USCAA All-American status, and 15 student-athletes have been named Academic All-Americans.

Zomopoulos is also a two-time Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, as he earned those distinctions during the 2013 and 2015 campaigns.

Prior to John Jay, Mr. Zomopoulos was the assistant coach for the Borough of Manhattan Community College men's soccer team, where he also assisted in the establishment of the women's program. During his tenure at BMCC, the men's team won Region XV and lost in the NJCAA Division III semi-finals.

At club level, he has led the New York Greek Americans to a United States National Amateur Cup championship in 2013, and to the semi-finals in the USSF National Amateur Championships (D4) in 2014. He is currently the Head Coach of the Westchester Flames USL-2 team, and has nurtured that club’s most successful youth side, Westchester Flames 2001’s USL u17 North American runners-up in 2017 and upcoming 2019 USL u19 National finalists.

On Friday, October 5, 2018, Zomopoulos passed his on-site evaluation and received his USSF Senior A License, the highest level of license issued by the USSF except for head coaches that have an MLS team, the USSF Pro. Currently, he is one of less than 100 coaches who has that level license in the country.

Mr. Zomopoulos is a graduate of Columbia University, where he played Division I soccer and won three Ivy League championships while also reaching the 1983 NCAA Division I Finals as a player. Following his collegiate playing career, Coach Zomopoulos entered the American Express Corporate Management program, where he worked for American Express, both in Manhattan and in Australia, and developed an extensive international business background.
