Men's and women's cross country teams compete in 2017 HVIAC championship meets at Hudson Valley Sports Dome

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2017 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships on Sunday afternoon. The event took place at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, NY. Berkeley College's men's squad finished sixth amongst eight scoring teams, while the Knights' female contingent did not score.

On the men's side, it was SUNY-ESF capturing its third consecutive league crown thanks to the team boasting eight runners in the top 10, and 12 Mighty Oaks earning medalist honors. Albany College of Pharmacy finished as the runner-up on the day.

For Berkeley College, the Knights' first finisher was Anthony Argueta, as he finished 16th overall with a time of 31:37. Alejandro Castro was Berkeley's next finisher, as he came in 27th place overall with a time of 33:46. Rounding out the Knights' representatives were Joshua Williams (35th place – 35:59), Jordan Bailey (55th place – 40:51), and Albert Jordan (58th place – 41:46).

On the women's side, it was SUNY-ESF winning its second league championship in three seasons. The Mighty Oaks had five runners finishing in the top eight to clinch the title.

The Knights' two representatives were Andrea Gil and Melissa Ramirez. Gil finished 38th overall with a time of 31:11, while Ramirez crossed the finish line at 33:00, a time good for 41st place.

With both Berkeley College's men's and women's teams boasting many young runners who gained a tremendous amount of experience, the Knights should be better positioned to shoot for conference titles when the 2018 season rolls around in mid-September.
