Men's and women's cross country teams compete in 2019 HVIAC championship meets at Hudson Valley Sports Dome

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2019 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships this past Sunday at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, NY. Despite putting forth some admirable efforts, both teams did not score on the afternoon.

In the men's 8K race, Knights standout Julio Sanchez was the first Berkeley runner to cross the finish line (10th overall, 38:20). The second Knight to finish was Jeremy Jimenez (12th overall, 39:24), and rounding out the Berkeley representatives were Carlos Lopez (13th overall, 39:27) and Jose Morales (17th overall, 43:53).

The Mighty Oaks of SUNY-ESF captured their fifth straight league title since joining the conference in 2015, compiling perfect scores in four of those titles.

As for Berkeley's female runners, Andrea Gil finished in the top five in the 5K meet, crossing the finish line at 27:16 (fifth overall). Marcella Valencia placed eighth overall (27:47), with Monica Hayes registering a ninth place finish (28:16).

Albany College of Pharmacy placed five runners in the top 10 to capture its first conference crown since 2016.
