Men's and women's cross country teams begin 2018 campaigns at Queensborough College Invitational

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams began their 2018 seasons at the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning. The men competed in an 8K race, while the women ran a 5K. The Knights put together some valiant efforts and left everything they had on the course.

The men finished in 16th place out of 19 participating institutions. Freshman Julio Sanchez was the first Knight to cross the finish line, as he finalized his morning in 81st place overall with a time of 37:43.9. Sean Smith – who is back with the team while pursuing his MBA – was the second Berkeley runner to finish, as he came in 100th place by recording a finish time of 38:54.3. Shi'yem Lennon, Denroy Lawrence, and Joshua Williams were the final three Knights to finish the 8K race.

In the women's 5K meet, Berkeley College finished 20th place out of 21 schools running. The Knights were led by former Passaic High School standout Freshman Julissa Osorio, as she came in 58th place overall with a time of 26:09.2. Newcomer Delilah Glasper came in second for the Knights, as she placed 102nd overall with a time of 30:11.9. Rounding out the scorers for Berkeley were Ashley Kulsea, Melissa Ramirez, and Kyle Cruz.

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams will return to action this Saturday at the Bard Raptors Invitational. The women's 6K race begins at 11:00am, and then men's 8K event starts at 11:45am.
