Men's basketball team dominates Culinary Institute of America on Saturday afternoon; Knights now winners of 33 straight overall (9-0 in 2016-2017)

The Berkeley College men's basketball team extended its program winning streak to 33 games on Saturday afternoon, turning back Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Culinary Institute of America 120-32 in a conference game played at the College of New Rochelle. With the win, the Knights are now 9-0 on the 2016-2017 campaign (2-0 HVIAC), while the Steels dipped to 1-4 (0-2 HVIAC).

Leading the way for the Knights was freshman guard Ian Charles, as he finished with a game-high 21 points while hitting on nine of his 18 attempts from the floor (50 percent). He also snatched four rebounds and tallied three steals all in 22 minutes of action. Emmanuel Osama also put forth a great effort, as he drained four of his five attempts from three-point territory to finish with 18 points. He also recorded a game-high seven steals, grabbed six rebounds, and tallied four assists in just 13 minutes of action.

The opportunistic Knights created turnovers and cashed in on them, forcing 44 Culinary Institute of America miscues and turning those into 60 points. Berkeley College shot 53.9 percent from the floor (48-89) while holding the Steels to just 14 converted field goals for the afternoon.

Berkeley College held a 53-29 edge in the rebounding department, while also scoring 45 fast break points on the day. The Knights also dominated inside, out-scoring the Steels 64-22 in the paint.

Despite the loss for Culinary Institute of America, Nico Christiansen led the way for his team, connected on four of his eight attempts from the floor to finish with a team-best 10 points in 21 minutes of action. George Musho also contributed eight points and four rebounds in 23 minutes.

The Knights will look to continue rolling on Wednesday evening, as Berkeley College will take on the College of New Rochelle in another Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. The game begins at 8:00pm, and will take place at the College of New Rochelle.
