The Berkeley College men's basketball team suffered a blowout loss in its final game of calendar year 2019, falling to the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton-Albany by a score of 114-89. The contest took place at the Borough of Manhattan Community College in Lower Manhattan. With the defeat, the Knights dipped back under the .500 mark for the season, slipping to 5-6.

Despite the loss for the Knights, Berkeley was paced by Daquan Jackson, as he put together another strong performance, connecting on 11 of his 15 attempts from the floor to finish with a team-hgih 23 points. He also snatched nine rebounds and swatted three shots. Turray Bynum netted 22 points (10-17 FG) while registering a team-high six assists, pulling down five rebounds, blocking a game-high four blocks, and adding a team-best two steals. The energetic Foday Saccoh added 15 points, draining five of his nine attempts from the floor in 22 minutes of floor time.

Leading the way for Bryant & Stratton-Albany was Jamil Hood, as he was unstoppable all afternoon. He connected on 13 of his 20 attempts from the field, and 12 of his 14 opportunities at the charity stripe, on his way to finalizing his day with a game-high 39 points. He also grabbed three rebounds and tallied two steals. Reggie Perez was very efficient, hitting eight of his nine free throws and six of his 11 attempts from the floor (21 points). His seven assists were a game-high, and the seven rebounds he registered were a team-best. Finally, it was Kobbie Perez putting forth a versatile effort, netting 17 points and adding six assists, five rebounds, and a game-high four steals.

The Knights held the lead just briefly in today's game, holding a 4-2 edge 51 seconds into the game. Bryant & Stratton-Albany took a 5-4 lead thanks to converted three-point attempt with 17:47 remaining in the opening half. For the remainder of the session, the game featured tied scores of 30-30, 32-32, and 34-34, before the Bobcats finished the half on a 13-5 run to grab a 47-39 advantage as the teams entered the locker room at the break.

In the second half, Bryant & Stratton-Albany built its lead up to 16 (62-46) with 14:06 remaining, but Berkeley stayed within striking distance, outscoring the Bobcats 19-12 over the ensuing 4:50 to make it a 74-65 game in favor of Bryant & Stratton Albany. 

That aforementioned run would be Berkeley's last gasp, though, as the Bobcats answered with a 17-3 run to go ahead 91-68, essentially putting the game away.

Opportunities at the free throw line had a significant impact in this game. The Bobcats attempted 29 shots from the charity stripe, remarkably connecting on 86.2 percent of those attempts (25-29). On the flip side, Berkeley didn't shoot badly from the line, but the Knights only attempted 14 shots, making nine (64.3 percent). Berkeley shot 52.1 percent from the floor (37-71), while Bryant & Stratton-Albany converted on 49.4 percent of its attempts (40-81). The Knights won the rebounding battle by a slim margin (40-39), and the teams recorded 19 assists apiece. The Bobcats committed just nine turnovers all day, while forcing 22 Berkeley miscues.

Berkeley will now have the rest of calendar year 2019 off before returning to action on January 4. On that day, the Knights will take on the University of Maine-Augusta at 4:00pm (neutral site). The following day, January 5, Berkeley will tussle with NHTI (3:00pm).
