
The Berkeley College men's basketball team split a pair of contests in recent weeks, defeating Bryant & Stratton-Albany in an NACIA contest back on December 14 by a score of 83-76, before losing the first game of calendar year 2025 at Penn State York (January 4) by a score of 94-85. With that output, the Knights are now 5-7 on the 2024-2025 campaign, including a mark of 2-1 in Regional play.
In the Knight's NACIA win over Bryant & Stratton-Albany, Karif Isaacs led the way with a team-high 19 points. He also added three rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Jesse Taylor (6-12 FG) finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, and it was Deontay Sprattley finalizing his day with 12 points, team-highs of nine rebounds and six assists, as well as a game-high five steals.
Despite the loss for the Bobcats, Zavion Little connected on five three-point baskets, and all for of his free throw attempts, finishing with game-highs of 35 points and 14 rebounds. Denali Burton posted a double-double with 12 points, 10 boards, two assists, and two steals, and it was Jalen Brown scoring 11 points and dishing a game-high nine assists.
After trailing by a score of 45-42 heading into the locker room, the Knights turned up the voltage in the second half of action, outscoring the visitors 41-31 to register the comeback victory, winning the game 83-76.
Berkeley shot the ball significantly better from the floor, earning a field goal percentage of 44.7 percent (34-76), while Bryant & Stratton-Albany connected on just 29 out of 83 shots from the floor (34.9 percent). The visitors held a slim 48-43 edge on the glass, while the Knights dished 19 assists compared to 18 for the Bobcats. Berkeley also won the turnover battle, committing just 15 miscues, while Bryant & Stratton-Albany had 19.
Ike Sheppard led the way for the Knights in their loss to Penn State York, as he recorded a team-highs of 21 points and game-high eight rebounds. Justyce Coleman connected on seven of his 12 attempts from the floor, finishing with 18 points, seven rebounds, and a game-high three blocked shots, and Taylor finalized his day with 16 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Finally, it was Julio Wallace contributing 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
In Penn State York's victory, four players scored in double figures, including Terrell Neal, as he finished with a game-high 23 points (9-11 FG). He also snatched four rebounds and dished two assists, as well. John Godinez recorded 19 points and six assists, and Quentin Wells and Sky Thomas scored 15 and 10 points, respectively. Wells also finished with five rebounds and five assists, and Thomas grabbed four boards and finished with two assists.
The Nittany Lions led by 13 points at the break (47-34), and never let Berkeley College draw any closer than seven points down throughout the entirety of the second half. Penn State York held the Knights at a distance, and eventually went on to win the game by nine points.
The Nittany Lions drained 57.8 percent of their shot attempts for the day (37-64), while Berkeley earned a conversion rate of just 39 percent (30-77). The hosts held a 38-33 edge on the glass, while also dishing 28 assists to Berkeley's 17. The teams combined for just 25 turnovers on the evening, with the Knights committing 12 miscues, and Penn State York accounting for 13.
Berkeley will return to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon, as the Knights will stay on the road to battle Penn State Mont Alto. Start-time for the contest is scheduled for 5:00pm.
